Again this year the Chelmsford Business Association awarded its member of the year at our annual holiday social. As is tradition, the immediate past member of the year, Jeff Hardy, presented this award on behalf of the committee and the entire business association. This year's recipient is Lynn Marcella.
The committee receives nominations from the membership and meets to review each nominee's qualifications. As in past years this year's recipient is well deserving of this award.
Lynn is co-owner of Chelmsford Copy and Secretarial Center in Parlmont Plaza. The Copy Center will be celebrating their 30 th year in business in February of 2006. Along with black & white and color copying they provide typing and word processing services, fax service, laminating, binding, mailing services, etc.
Lynn has been a member of the Chelmsford Business Association since 1996 and has served as director for the past three years and was recently re-elected for another three year term.
A member of the Chelmsford Rotary Club since 1989, the first year women were allowed to join Rotary, she became the first female president in the club's history.
She has served on the board of directors in various capacities for the past 12 years, and currently is a director and newsletter editor. Lynn is a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship and received the "Service Above Self" Award in 2004. She recently coordinated the "Dictionary Project" which presented dictionaries to all third graders in the Town of Chelmsford.
Town of Chelmsford activities have also been a busy part of her life. She served as a Commissioner on the Chelmsford Housing Authority for 15 years and was Chairman of the Board for three years. She served on the Town of Chelmsford Housing Review Committee. Also served as a member of the Chelmsford Housing Elder Partnership which recently opened 51 units of assisted elderly housing. Lynn was also a Town Meeting Representative. She served on the Ways and Means Committee for the 350 th Anniversary Celebration and recently signed up to be on the Parade Committee for 2006.
Lynn donates a display case in the Copy Center to the Town of Chelmsford and Chelmsford Historical Society for the sale of commemorative items. In the past year alone, over $25,000 in gift items has been sold.
She is past President of the Chelmsford Art Society and also served as Secretary and Newsletter Editor. She ran the 4 th of July Art Festival for five years and is the recipient of the Founders Award.Lynn lives in Chelmsford with her husband Chuck Marcella. She is a 1973 graduate of Chelmsford High. She is a member of the Chelmsford High School Alumni Association and serves as Class Agent for the Class of 1973. Lynn was inducted into the CHS Alumni Association Hall of fame in 2002 along with Chelmsford Business Association Executive Director John Harrington. She has co-chaired the past three reunions for the class of 1973. Lynn is also a graduate of Newbury College.
